The line-up from Taste of Dublin 2017!

20 top restaurants, 30 world-class chefs, 160 interactive masterclasses, Irish and International experts giving “Food for thought” talks about the topics on everyone’s lips …

And entertainment and fun for everyone….

Taste of Dublin 2017 released the line-up for Ireland’s ultimate foodie festival – an event that excited its attendees with a strong and unique range of features and faces, on its 12th year.

Last years festival was held in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th June with a stellar line-up of world renowned International and Irish chefs, including Jean Christophe Novelli, Anna Haugh, Darina Allen, Gill Meller and Neven Maguire who took to the various stages and participated in new exciting features over the four days; there were also producers, food and drinks experts and new experiences – all designed to educate, entertain, surprise and delight.  Taste of Dublin 2017 was the only place to be in Dublin that week and was the unmissable event of Summer 2017.

Because Ireland’s food culture is more diverse than ever before, guests to last year’s festival were greeted with a strong international dimension, as all chefs and restaurants showcased 2017’s theme of ‘Flavours of the World’ by incorporating foreign cuisine elements into their menus.

A new feature of the festival was ‘Food for Thought’ with Regina Wish.  With more than 30 talks, Q&A’s and interviews from some of Ireland’s favourite chefs and industry experts they discussed ingredients and topics they love including Darina Allen on Slow Food, Robin Gill on getting Farm to Table eating “right”, Clodagh McKenna on “Table Scaping” and Simon Lamont on the Sustainable Oyster.  Throw in whiskey masterclasses from “Teelings”, cooking with Flavours of the World from Anna Haugh, “Sherry, the Food Lover’s Wine” from drinks enthusiast Lynne Coyle from O’Brien’s Wines, not to mention the “Big Fat Taste Quiz” panel experience – it was an informative and entertaining feature that visitors didn’t want to miss!

Another new feature was the expanded Electrolux ‘Make Life Delicious’ theatre, to cope with the overwhelming popularity and demand from last year. This was the perfect place for those who were interested in learning a thing or two about cooking and wanted to get their hands dirty. French celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, Kwanghi Chan and Kevin Dundon are just some of the names that demonstrated over the four days. True foodies felt right at home in the ‘Taste Theatre’ where a further line-up of leading chefs and TV personalities like Darina Allen and Neven Maguire showcased their professional skills and techniques. They hosted up to five live cooking demos per session, plus a few new surprises that kept the crowds entertained.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s much-loved tea brand Barry’s Tea showed for the first time an innovative way of enjoying tea: ‘Infusion, by Barry’s Tea’, served a range of exclusive cocktails; a refreshing twist on the classic Gold Blend, a tantalizing Very Berry cocktail and a comforting Green Tea cocktail – a whole new experience nobody wanted to miss!

The 20 participating restaurants were stronger than ever before; last year we had a concept “Daily Specials”, with signature dishes from Ireland’s top restaurants; including Deane’s EIPIC, Ely & Pickle.  Other new features last year included the Producer’s Collection, which featured an authentic selection of artisan producers, designed to enable visitors to experience the character and authenticity behind each product.    Meanwhile, Neven Maguire brought the Flogas Taste Experience to life, where he offered demo features throughout the festival.     Added into the mix, Whiskey Tasting with Roe & Co, craft beer features as well as the O’Brien’s wines masterclass, it all happened at Taste of Dublin 2017!

The ever-popular ‘Style Afternoon’ on Friday was hosted by Pippa O’Connor, while Saturday and Sunday afternoons were all sorts of fun, with face painting, creative games and cooking skills advice for families and kids; nicely coinciding with Father’s Day on Sunday 18th June.

Entertainment on the main stage from noon on Thursday to close on Sunday evening kept the buzz alive including bands such as Spring Break and Smash Hits with a record number of 35,000 people from Thurs 15th to Sunday 18th June.

Finally, last year for the first year ever, the “Mastercard VIP ticket”, available from Priceless Ireland, for the evening session on Sunday 18th(5.30 to 9.30pm) gave guests access to the Champagne Taittinger VIP Suite – so, not only did cardholders treat themselves, but €30 from every ticket helped WFP (World Food Programme) provide 150 nutritious school meals to children in Africa.
