Taste Club in partnership with Mastercard® are teaming up with Veginity restaurant and The Foxes Rock on November 28th. The story of this plant-based restaurant started in a food truck in Portobello in 2016. Two years later they have opened their permanent digs on Dorset St. In Veginity you can sample some of the best vegan food there is on offer in Dublin. Chef Mark Senn has led Veginity to immense praise all over Dublin and has gained many awards along with that!
The Foxes Rock is proud to be a 100% vegan beer that pairs amazingly with the dishes at Veginity! In 2016 the beer gained vegan status due to its isinglass free filtration methods. The Foxes Rock takes their name from the legend of the Cooley mountains and their handcrafted Irish brews range from IPAs to Red Ales.
AN AUTUMN DINNER IN THE PORTHOUSE
A joyful evening was had by all who attended our Autumn dinner in the Porthouse on November 14th in Dublin. Guests dined on a 5-course meal with each course paired with W&J Graham’s Port.
A COSY SUNDAY LUNCH WITH PICHET + ROE & CO
This event was a special cooperation between Pichet and Diageo’s Roe & Co whiskey. Guests were treated to a three-course Sunday lunch and Roe & Co ambassador Alan Mulvihill created paired mini serves for each of Pichet’s dishes. These delightful cocktails included Cure for Quiet, Butcher and Weave and Watling Street Spritz.
THE BAKER AND THE BREWER
This event was an exclusive four-course dinner prepared by Graham Herterich, The Cupcake Bloke, who joined forces with The Open Gate Brewery to design a taste experience inspired by and created with small-batch brews from the brewery.
Each of the four courses on the menu for the evening were accompanied by a glass of The Open Gate Brewery beer which inspired it. Padraig Fox from The Open Gate Brewery guided guests through the different beers experienced on the night. This was a rare opportunity to enjoy a food and beer pairing menu in the actual hall where the beers have been brewed, this added its own special atmosphere.
NEW YEAR, NEW YOU – LUXURY RETREAT AT CLIFF AT LYONS
A simply wonderful weekend was had by all in the stunning Cliff at Lyons in January. A number of guests enjoyed an overnight stay and were joined by more Taste Club fans on Saturday morning for a number of masterclasses designed to get 2018 off to a peaceful and relaxed start. Guests joined Garry Cohn to learn how to create the perfect, restful space at home, moved mindfully with Lee Tracey and cooked up a storm with the Cliff at Lyons culinary team.
PLAN YOUR PERFECT CHRISTMAS
Taste Club guests enjoyed a festive evening in the newly revamped MSL Ballsbridge Motors Mercedes-Benz Showroom on November 23rd. Sharon Hearne Smith, celebrity chef and food stylist wowed us with a table decorating masterclass, sharing tips and tricks on how to create a truly magnificent Christmas table.
Michael Bermingham from The Market Butchers talked us through preparing a Christmas turkey, how to cook it perfectly and also what alternative meats there are for Christmas dinner.
The team from O’Briens Wines guided guests on the do’s and don’ts when stocking up on favourite festive tipples with their special seasonal wine tasting.
Including festive sweet treats from The Cupcake Bloke, a glass of prosecco on arrival and a Christmas gift bag from Santa’s helpers (aka the Team at Taste of Dublin) this was a very special evening.
AN AUTUMN EVENING WITH JOHN HEALY AND SUESEY STREET
To mark the autumnal flavours, in October Taste Club partnered with Suesey Street to bring our attendees a very special seasonal menu which included a range of hearty and delicious flavours, including a game main course.
Attendees were also regaled with a fantastic conversation with John Healy, Restaurant Manager of Suesey Street and Maitre d’ of TV3’s ‘The Restaurant’. John entertained everyone recapping his life in food as well as talking through his favourite dishes, his culinary travels and of course his work on TV.
AN OYSTER JOURNEY WITH CLIFF TOWNHOUSE AND URCHIN
Marking the beginning of the Irish oyster season, Taste Club teamed up with Cliff Townhouse and Urchin, “the coolest new venue in Dublin” to bring attendees on a special oyster journey.
A special Taste Club oyster platter was prepared which included six varieties of oysters – served both fresh and grilled. The event also celebrated Ireland’s rich heritage with regional flavours from across our diverse coastal landscape. Head Chef Sean Smith was also on hand to deliver an Irish Oyster Masterclass and there was also a series of specially designed taster cocktails which rounded out the flavour and texture of the whole experience.
BARRY’S BAR TEA-INSPIRED COCKTAILS AT THE EXCHEQUER
For the first time ever, the exclusive Barry’s Bar served tea-inspired cocktails to a select number of lucky attendees at our last sold out event in The Exchequer Wine Bar, Ranelagh.
With refreshing twists on the classic Gold Blend, a tantalising Very Berry cocktail and a comforting Green Tea cocktail, this is certainly one you won’t want to miss at Taste of Dublin.
