The Port House was the brainchild of Lee Sim and Oliver Hughes. During one of their brainstorming trips, they came across a tapas bar in London that they fell in love with. Feeling that Dublin needed one too, in 2006 they started putting their ideas together.
Spanish tapas had always been a firm favourite of Lee’s and off he went to consult with a good friend of his in the Basque region of Spain, returning with the ultimate tapas menu for Dublin. Not only seeking to offer the most authentic Spanish Tapas outside of Spain, but also to provide the finest wines, ports and sherries from the Iberian Peninsula. The concept was starting to take shape. In the meantime, Lee and Oliver had found premises on South William St and they transformed it to the idyllic little cave it is today. The Port House had arrived.
In 2007, Lee and Oliver decided that Dublin needed another unique tapas bar and found another premises in Temple Bar, Bar Pintxo. This fabulous, unique bar is ideal for a dinner date with booth seating and dark interiors. The outdoor terrace is ideal for dining and to enjoy some vino while listening to the outdoor concerts in Meeting House Square.
The next addition to the Port House family is Port House Ibericos, located in the Pembroke District of Dundrum. This idyllic restaurant is formed from two small cottages with a stunning outdoor terrace, perfect for lunch or dinner after a shopping trip or purely to be transported to Spain on a summer’s day!
Next up, seven years later and after a lot of hard work came Port House London on the Strand. Perfectly located in the West End of London this bustling little cave is thriving. A perfect location for a pre-theatre dinner or that perfect date night. Just like all Port Houses, their stunning wine, port and sherries are sourced from only the finest wineries in Spain and Portugal as well as offering the full range of authentic tapas that has become a firm favourite in Dublin.
